People in DENSO are awarded for good job

Liberec, 30th October 2009 - the DENSO company does not deny its roots. Flexibility of the Japanese company and the ability of rapid regeneration proved especially in the period of global economic crisis. Although the performance result of the company for fiscal year of 2008 was affected by market economic situation and showed a loss, the current economic situation is very much improved. The company generates profit and shares its success with its associates.
DENSO started to implement various countermeasures in advance, approximately from August 2008. First of all a negative exchange rate trend of Czech Crown towards Euro and the starting decrease of the production volume, which decreased by 20% at the end of 2008, indicated a negative market development.
First wave of economy measures included cost reduction. Contractors' services were reduced at first and the company started to partly implement projects applying self-help.
Second wave of measures brought reduction of associate bonuses. "Our main objective is to keep jobs and not touch the basic wage of associates. Although our company experienced loss we tried for the associates not to feel the impact of crisis on their living standard. By means of the Collective Agreement we guaranteed 2% wage increase and annual bonuses were also paid, although reduced by 20% due to the negative economic result," says Toshifumi Murayama, the President of the company.
Third wave of measures was focused on change of production plans. "We have set new production plans and new activities for fiscal year of 2009," Mr. Murayama further states.
"Our steps proved to be the correct in first half of the fiscal year 2009 and the company has been currently generating profit. However, just the implementation of the measures is not enough. We would not achieve black numbers without contribution of our associates. Therefore we have decided to distribute a part of the profit among associates. Before Christmas they will be paid back one half of 20% which were reduced earlier this year from annual bonus," says the president of the company.
"I believe that also in the second half of the fiscal year 2009 we will achieve all of our targerts and by participation of all associates will create further improvements", Mr. Murayama adds.
