Liberec, 13 Apr 2010 – The Škoda Yeti has become the overall winner of the „Car of the Year 2010“ contest. The company DENSO MANUFACTURING CZECH s.r.o. – the leading supplier of air-conditioning units for the winning car – has received the prestige „Supplier for the Car of the Year 2010“ award.
The „Car of the year“ and „Supplier for the Car of the Year“ contests were launched by the Automotive Industry Association (SAP) in September 2009. The results of the 6th „Car of the year“ competition were announced at a gala evening on 12 January 2010 at the TOP hotel in Prague. The nominated vehicles were evaluated not only by a panel of experts composed of automotive journalists and independent authorities but by representatives of the general public. The vehicles were divided into 5 categories (SUV; Large Family, Executive and Luxury Cars; Supermini and Small Family Cars; Sports Cars; MPV). From each category, the winner was chosen and later on, the overall winner of the contest. The overall winner of the „Car of the year“ contest became the Škoda Yeti. It also won the SUV category among the eight nominated vehicles.
Petra Hanke, head of the panel of experts, said, ‘Voting of the panel of experts and of the general public was surprisingly alike. The Škoda Yeti won both parts of the contest and the Volkswagen Golf placed second.’ A total of 68 067 people took part in the poll.
The overall victory of the Škoda Yeti vehicle in the „Car of the year“ contest also promoted success of the company DENSO MANUFACTURING CZECH s.r.o. in the „Supplier for the Car of the Year 2010“ competition. The Volkswagen Golf was selected as the second most favourite vehicle. It also came out on top among small cars of the Small and Large Family Cars category. ‘We are very pleased about the „Supplier for the Car of the Year 2010“ award and it provides us with positive feedback on our products,’ says Karel Balatka, vice president of the Company, and adds: ‘The DENSO company supplies air-conditioning units (HVAC) for the both winning vehicles.“
DENSO scored another success in the Large Family, Executive and Luxury Cars category, which the Mercedes-Benz E-Class won. The Company supplies condensers for this vehicle.
‘Our philosophy is to provide the highest quality of our products and services to our customers, to continuously improve our products and meet the new needs of the market and as well as of the end-users. The satisfaction of our customers and the positive evaluation in the „Supplier for the Car of the Year 2010“ contest presents a challenge for us also for the coming years,’ adds the Company’s vice president.
